Nadine's Music Manor - Meeting the harmonious needs of the musically inclined
Nadine’s Music Manor in Plano sells quality musical instruments, music accessories, print music and offers individual instruction on a variety of instruments. "We offer guitar, bass, drums, piano, keyboard, trombone and violin lessons," says owner Nadine Haarsager. "We also teach music theory, which helps students prepare for college courses.
The 5,000-square-foot store is located 3031 W. 15th Street and features 10 teaching studios and a large group studio available for rent.
Music Manor is the place parents, students, and school music instructors are turning to for the purchase of hard to find band sheet music, band accessories and name-brand guitars such as Hamer, Alvarez, Takamine, and Ovation. However we choose quality products not name identification.
Ms. Haarsager takes pride in her business for its attention to personal service and quality products. "Our biggest asset in our guitar department, is our guitar technician. Every guitar that goes out whether it be $69.95 or $2000.00 goes through our shop. We change strings, oil fingerboards, dress frets, adjust necks, all before it goes on the rack. "Most stores just pull their guitars out of a box and put them on the rack," she says.
The store’s array of print music is proving attractive to music departments at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels because it features a wide range of classical, pop, instrumental, piano, and vocal sheet music.
"We also have a large selection of band books, and we even have twirling batons," she says.
Music Manor also is the place where customers can purchase band accessories such as reeds, mouthpieces and cleaning supplies.
"We do repairs of band instruments and guitars too," says Ms. Haarsager. "And we stock a lot of church accessories like tambourines and rhythm instruments."
The store which was founded in 1976, has more than 300 students of all ages enrolled for instruction. Ms. Haarsager purchased the business in 1986. Teachers at Music Manor are either professional musicians or university-schooled.
"Our teachers are very accomplished," says Ms. Haarsager. "One of our longest tenured teachers is an accomplished composer."
Other instructors in the school are members of local rock groups, church musical organizations and school bands she says.
To encourage music professionals to visit the store, Music Manor offers teacher discounts to local music association members and private music instructors.
"We want to encourage private instructors to give us their required music list and we’ll keep that music in stock for them. It really benefits the teacher and parents to easily find required materials. Because I’m a smaller store I have the ability to keep these items in stock," she says.
Nadine’s Music Manor is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store is also open Sundays on a seasonal basis at the start of the new school year and during the Christmas season. For more information, call 972-985-7884.
Nadine's Music Manor - New Location for Music, Accessories and Lessons
It’s back to school every day at Nadine’s Music Manor. Their new location at 15th and Independence stays in tune all year with band students, private lesson students, guitar and piano players, vocalists and music teachers. Music Manor is both a full-line music store, except for pianos, and a full-time music school that emphasizes "small store’ personal service.
Even with summer approaching, the music store is humming. Parents of students signing up for school band in the fall are exploring all their options.
"We focus on the music and accessoriesaspect of a school’s band program," says owner Nadine Haarsager.
Band books, private lessons, books, metronomes, music stands, mouthpieces, reeds, and cleaning supplies are year-round neccessities for band students, as well as professional musicians. The store also sells quality, refurbished school-approved instruments, and their repair shop services all instruments.
"This is an especially hard time of year for parents of new band students," says Ms. Haarsager. "They are sent out to ask questions and prices of items they are completely foreign to them." Even the book titles may seem to be written in Greek. It is our job to help translate and make them feel comfortable," she says. "In fact, for those parents and students not lucky enough a note, we can usually translate ‘I need a red book’ into Standard of Excellence for the Tuba," says Ms. Haarsager.
"This time of year is also very busy for popular music," she says. "Piano and band students usually have an opportunity to add contemporary music to their regular lesson format. We sell movie themes, Disney, Broadway, and pop for all levels and most instruments," she says. "Currently, the music of Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain are in demand, and Backstreet Boys and N’Sync are catching up," says Ms. Haarsager.
With summer approaching, many people aalso are considering music lessons. Private study in any instrument enhances your abilities and advancement, says Ms. Haarsager.
"Our music program is designed to be year-round, but starting in the summer is appealing to many students because there are fewer distractions," says Ms. Haarsager.
Nadine’s Music Manor takes pride in its teaching facilities and instructional staff. Almost hlaf of the 5,000-square foot location at Prarie Creek Vilage is devoted to teaching facilities.
When designing the new store, we wanted to give our teaching staff and area befitting their years of experience and education," says Ms. Haarsager.
